journey

INFLUENCE MOBILE

October 2019 - October 2024

Provided UX Design for an app that rewards mobile gamers for playing games they love. Worked with Product and Front End to improve usability, increase trust, and optimize conversions. Lead on wireframes and prototyping, visual design, copy, usability testing, customer research, and many other roles.

KAALA + SCENEGEN

Jan 2017 / Jan 2020 - Present

Entrepreneur side projects that both aim to improve the experience for independent musicians globally. Providing product design to prototyping, these have been the most rewarding projects. Kaala is an ever-evolving project that started as an attempt to create an online calendar of underground bands, venues and shows, organized by genre and location. We also offered Metal fan tours of Tokyo. SceneGen (a different company and team altogether) involves some big thinking and complex UX to make touring and show tracking easier for independent bands.

Arivale

November 2017 - April 2019

Arivale helped people improve their health via blood-work analysis, lifestyle tracking, and coaching. I was involved in research (user, market, and scientific), wireframing, prototyping, look & feel, UI testing, process, project management, and even delivered some code (React and React Native) for both our web and mobile products.

Premera

May 2017 - November 2017

I worked with the Premera team to improve some of the most used sections of their public website. As a UX Designer with peripheral skills, I worked with design researchers, project managers, other designers and developers to craft a working prototype of an improved workflow for insurance providers and doctors, built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Revel Consulting / Funko

November 2016 - May 2017

Revel was fast-paced and challenging, and my role fluctuated between UX, UI, front end development, and project management. My passion for untangling UX knots and staying focused on user goals helped guide the team, who were focused on asset creation.

55zero / Tilray

November 2015 - May 2016

Improved Tilray’s highly complex administration interface and redesigned their customer-facing web portal, among various other web and mobile projects. Contributed UX, UI, front end dev, image manipulation, and project management.

Aboutlocal (Acquired by Groupon)

February 2014 - September 2015

AboutLocal helped brick and mortar merchants see what their customers were posting about them from inside the store. I contributed end-to-end production on branding, copywriting, UX, UI, front end, and back end development. I became quite proficient in JQuery and Ruby on Rails during this time.

FlexMinder (wellinformd)

June 2013 – February 2014

FlexMinder aims to make the healthcare industry more transparent, and make it easier to understand and manage your health care spending. This is the first project I’ve worked on where I really feel like I’m making a difference in the world, and meanwhile I get to wear all of the hats with a focus on UX/UI, branding and more copy than I’ve ever done before.

Nearlyweds! / OneWed

January 2012 – May 2013

With full creative control over the brand, UX, and UI, I directed successful overhauls of both Nearlyweds.com and OneWed.com, pushing OneWed past Martha Stewart Weddings as the 5th most trafficked wedding website.

PhotoRocket

May 2010 – December 2011

I worked primarily as a UX/UI designer and front end dev contributing to product design, branding and copywriting. I’m also proud to say we basically invented the Facebook Timeline just months before it was released.

Ameritocracy

April 2008 – April 2010

Ameritocracy was a highly ambitious startup that I cofounded. Our initial goal was to crowd-source the accuracy of political statements, eventually maturing into annotating the web in a more general sense. This was an incredibly fun project, involving a lot of branding (digital as well as physical), attending conferences, and both designing and building the web interface and browser widget.

3Guppies

September 2006 – December 2007 | Seattle, WA

During which I cut my teeth as a developer in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and (ugh) MySpace templates and widgets.

Sarphatie Education

September 2004 – September 2006 | Rochester, NY

Designed and built fully custom websites for over 50 individual high school student resumes in HTML, CSS, and Flash.
